The TEFL/TESL intensive training course consists of 114 hours and provides students with information on current practice, theory and research in the Teaching of English as a Second and Foreign Language. The class format involves two sessions of one and a half hours of methodology and teaching techniques each day and two hours of teaching practice with English students. All teaching practice sessions are observed by peers and instructors and are followed by a peer assessment and oral and written feedback by the trainer. Objectives: To produce practical classroom teachers with a good command of the basic procedural skills and techniques used in all types of ESL/EFL lessons: giving instructions, eliciting, modeling, concept checking, error correction, classroom management, cultural awareness, syllabus planning and diagnostic testing. To enable teachers to develop and teach their own lessons, at all proficiency levels, including: skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking), structure and function. To develop the teacher's ability to incorporate course books, interactive multimedia technology and video into the teaching.
